   FIVE GEMS OF THYAGARAJA
Classical- Indian Dance Presentation on the Pancharatna Kritis
Supported by Carnatic Music Association of North America (CMANA)

Five Gems of Thyagaraja is an innovative work of its kind to be presented anywhere in the United States. This novel project depicts the garland of five songs which are immortal classics of the legendary composer Saint Thyagaraja. These five songs are exemplary compositions akin to music from Handel’s Messiah. The dance presentation is intended to bring out the full meaning of the lyrics, translating them from the regional Indian languages to the more interpretive and visual language of dance. In an unprecedented manner, the choreographer, Kalaimamani Smt. Ramya Ramnarayan has choreographed these songs to be presented as a group production to make it more visually appealing to the audience.
